State Road 46 signal and infrastructure upgrades approved

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus City Officials approved multiple agreements to advance traffic control, bridge replacements, and interlocal road funding across Bartholomew County at the Tuesday, August 25, Public Works and Safety meeting.

The board approved a task order with Strand Associates for survey design work and utility coordination for a planned traffic signal at State Road 46 and Tipton Lakes Boulevard. Strand was also awarded a separate task order for engineering design to replace the Sunset Drive bridge superstructure over the lagoon ponds.

Additionally, the city approved a cooperative memorandum of understanding with Bartholomew County for the Talley Road project. Under the agreement, the county will cover 20% of construction engineering costs while the local Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) funds the remaining 80%.

The city also unsealed three bids for Phase 2 of its road overlay project, taking them under advisement.
