Wanted Seymour man arrested on drug, firearm-related charges

SEYMOUR, Ind. - The Seymour Police Department (SPD) arrested a wanted local man on several charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of Fentanyl, on Tuesday, March 24.

Officers responded to the 500 block of S. Walnut Street to locate a wanted individual. When they tried to make contact at the residence, the wanted individual initially came to the door. But when he noticed that law enforcement was at the door, he quickly retreated to the back of the home.

A short time later, police stationed outside and at the back of the residence again made contact and took the wanted person into custody.

When the suspect was arrested, he allegedly had a firearm and a substance that field-tested positive for fentanyl. As a result of the investigation, Nicholas A. Shutters, 30, of Seymour, was charged with the outstanding warrant.

Shutters was also booked for being a serious violent felon in possession of a firearm (level 4 felony), possession of a controlled substance-fentanyl (level 5 felony), and resisting law enforcement (level 6 felony), and taken to the Jackson County Jail.
