COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Bartholomew County man was arrested for driving under the influence after he smashed into a fire truck on Monday.
The Columbus Police Department (CPD) responded to the accident in the area of Central Avenue and 25th Street. Law enforcement spoke with the driver of the automobile involved in the collision, Cameron Barrix, 23, of Columbus.
While interviewing Barrix, officers say they noted the smell of alcohol on his breath and blood-shot, glassy eyes, according to police.
Barrix supposedly failed several field sobriety tests at the scene of the crash and was later transported to Columbus Regional Health (CRH) for a blood draw, after which he was placed under arrest. CPD says Barrix faces preliminary charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
